A biography of Shirley Jackson, an American writer, famous for "The Lottery" short story and books like "The Haunting of Hill House" and "We have Always Lived in the Castle". Yay -- I'm glad you got to the Ivan book and liked it as much as you did! Of the "late" Vorkosigans, this is one of my favorites, and I really glad we got to see how things look from Ivan's POV: it cemented him as one of my favorite characters in the series (of which, of course, I have very many).

He is very efficient and good at his job too - but he is so careful to stay where he is happy with his life.I found Ivan extremely relatable in that regard! And have actually adopted the term "ophidian census" into my mental vocabulary for when I check my Outlook in the morning :P ( ... )
