emergency vet.

As I was preparing to leave for work today I let Josephine in from her daily last-romp-before-work and saw that she was limping slightly and wanting to stop and lick her leg.

She has a huge tear on her right hindquarters above the knee in back. Seriously like two by three inches of muscle showing and a large flap of skin.

It is of course Sunday, AND ( Read more... )

No not at all...Tasha had surgery 5 years ago and it was 550 all totaled so no you are not getting taken. Vet costs are high and going to the Pet ER is pricey.

I agree with you my man...I will pay anything to fix my dog or dogs too. Each one of them is a gift to us.

ER services are expensive, but not much more than what it would cost at your normal vet.

$1200 ER services for our Balanise (sp?) Cat that was attacked by a neighbors dog.

$1800 ER surgery on our Dog when he tore the muscle in his leg from sliding on the throw rug in the hall. (The other dog and cat would sit on the rug and he would run and jump on the rug and they would go for a ride down the hall)

I don't think you are being had, but I don't know how much the vet costs where you live. Here in Atlanta, the costs are through the roof. They charge you for every little thing - just like the doctor does these days, and it adds up fast.

I don't think you are being had. However, we use a Banfield Pet Hospital and have pet insurance. It costs us $21 a month and it covers a lot. She just got 5 vaccines and an exam and it cost me $0. You may want to look into that if you can afford it or if you find it worthwhile.

I will second the pet HMO, if available in your area. My Gwen saved a lot though it. Those costs sound about right. Of course, I spent a lot more than that over the course of Gwen life; I loved that dog, but she was not from the best genetic stock. I hope she heals fully and well.
