ITP: ELRAINE AND YOU. (Keywords appropriate.)
1. Don't touch the sick girl.
No really don't touch her. ... No really, don't.
If your character is one of those really touchy-feely/huggy types and it comes up mid-thread, that's fine! Elraine will probably just dodge it. (And then freak out at you.) But no unavoidable touching under any circumstances, such as mistletoe, etc.
I know I've said this a lot already and will probably say it many more times before the month is over but IT BEARS REPEATING. The reason being is that Troy-- her illness-- is transferred through touch. Skin-to-skin contact, to be precise. Now, Elraine will probably be wearing her full uniform in camp at all times, which means head-to-toe heavy clothing + gloves + hood no matter how hot it is to keep as little chance of people touching her down to a minimum, but that doesn't stop her from being nervous. (Troy can also be passed through hair, so long as it's still attached to the scalp, so if your character has LONG SWISHY PANTENE-PRO-V HAIR, she will probably be wary of that too.)
IF your character is somehow completely immune to sickness (do we have any of these in camp? IF SO, PLEASE COMMENT HERE, and just being immortal doesn't count unless you're immune too) or something or other, Elraine... still probably won't be that okay with physical contact for a while. It's that ingrained in her psyche.
2. Please don't try to heal her
I know we have healers and doctors in camp, but please don't try to heal her. She wouldn't let you, in the first case, because that would likely involve TOUCHING. (See point #1.) In her world, Troy is always eventually fatal, and no cure has been found for it. There's no equivalent of it in our world either, so modern medicine would likely be of little use in any case.
It's also kind of a driving force behind her life and her goals and uh. basic characterisation and uh. entire plot of the story. So, er, yes. I mean, we'll see how things play out, but I'd avoid it just right now :|b.
3. Kiri is with her at all times
This may seem fairly obvious but again, it bears repeating. Elraine is only being kept alive by holding onto Kiri's healing jesus body hand. As such, they have to do everything together. EVERYTHING. Eat, sleep, and yes, bathe. (Though they uh, take turns in standing outside the shower with one hand poking out for the latter.) So while you will probably have seperate threads with both Elraine and Kiri (because three-way threads require way more of an attention span than I possess), it is safe to assume that whatever you tell one, the other will hear too. They are a two-for-one deal.
