Try to keep an open mind. If you tell yourself this is not going to be the same Primal we know from Beast Wars, then hopefully you won't be too disappointed with what you get from him. It's like comparing G1 Optimus to Bay's Optimus.
Still have mixed feelings about this. Warlord Primal is a big no from me forever and always, but they may do some revision of the base concept before introducing him. I am admittedly curious how he'll be played with in the IDW sandbox.
Besides that, while I lean toward being pleased when BW characters win popularity contests, I feel he's a boring choice for this particular line. I feel the same way about Deathsaurus (who also doesn't suit the Chaos category's description, tbh) coming in second and Ultra Magnus in third. All these guys have been in major leadership positions in fiction. Even having them-- among other contenders-- in the running was a dull choice that played too safe, imo.
And then on a more minor note, Primal just got a Masterpiece figure in October. Not that I think there can be too many BW toys, but it is another reason I wish they'd chosen to spotlight a different Beast character for this.
Too late for me, unfortunately, lol. The whole competition gave me a bad vibe from the beginning, I can't be positive about it now. Still, I do hold some hope of being pleasantly surprised by the outcome of the results!

I don't trust any of the writers to do him right
But I guess if nothing else it proves how much influence beast wars still has
