As you probably know, the economy went down and down and down again. Coming back with 50M, would be like having 250 when you left.
About your relic, 50M can get you very close to final stage if you sponsor your runs. Thing is, we know a lot more about relics nowadays, and most of these kinda suck :/ The accomplishment is always great, no matter which one you upgrade, but many people get disapointed once they got it and realize it is often not better than an AH weapon.
Most usefull relics seem to be Aegis, Gjallarhorn, Amanomurakumo (great katana) and Mandau (dagger). All in all, even though you're BST main, perhaps you should consider upgrading Horn for your (possibly ^^) upcoming BRD, better than Guttler.
Just my thoughts, and whatever you decide, have fun doing it ^^

True... Maybe I'll just be a currency whore, and make the decision as I level stuff up.
Then again, am I going to be able to get my character back :o Think I'll go buy the game today and just start from there. If I can't get my character and gil back, then ummmm, back to WoW :\

There's that "Back to Vana'diel" thing going on right now, and you're supposed to be able to get a character back even if it was deleted years ago, while this thing lasts :)
