the motherboard is broken - but thanks for the offer!
i'm just looking for a new laptop - as every dollar spent on the old (!) system would be wasted. what do you think of the new mobile centrino processors from intel? at the moment my favourites are a toshiba with a pentium IV HT 3.06ghz or a sony with a centrino 1.5 ghz..... apart from the processor they're basically the same 512 RAM, 60 GB, 15,4" widescreen (though the sony screen seems to be better - however it's a bit more expensive anyway) DVD+/- blahblahblah
A Centrino. Wow, you must have a pretty big pocketbook to afford one of those babies...
If you travel a lot with a notebook those Centrinos are the way to go, especially if you plan on visiting any wireless hotspots (like some airports) or cyber-cafes. However, if you're just looking for a desktop replacement to sit on a desk then something less expensive would do.
i don't move the laptop around too much on a daily basis. it is more a desktop replacement - my life is too unstable for a desktop commitment.
surprisingly the centrino's aren't so much more expensive than the P4's - the difference is about $100 for the 2 laptops i'm looking at at the moment. i'm more worried about the performance... as it will be my one and only computer.
