i think that's a great decision. I'm infering that you've been getting negative reactions from others? I think people tend to make projections onto others based on their own experience with things like college and give advice related to what they wish they'd done. I know people who say they'll go to college eventually but never do and sit around smoking pot and talking about how the world is keeping them down and talking about missed opportunities. And i also know people who felt pressured to go to college when they wanted to do other things or didn't know what they wanted to get out of college, and squandered the expensive resources temporarily avaliable to them and did not make good use of that time. You are a smart, resourceful, focused person and you know what you're doing, so go for it!

:shrugs: I mean, it's a lot harder to get to school if you wait. I didn't think this was true but I know a lot of people who put off going to college and never went... also admissions at many colleges tend to frown down upon people who put off going to college without good reason. As for what you want to do, it's not really necessary to declare a major for the first year or so you're in college anyway, because you have to take all the same general studies classes that everyone else does. I changed my major, but I only took a few art classes before I did, so it didn't hurt me too bad.

P.S. It will probably take me 6 years to graduate but that is because I work so fucking much. :shrug: So even if I waited until I was thirty to go to college, it would still take 6 years, if not longer.

yea, that is another reason as to why it takes people a while. as for not being accepted becasue of the time i have taken off, that might be a problem. however, i really don't have very high ambitions as far as colleges are concerned. state schools are fine with me and i know that they'll accept me. besides, this year i have had an internship with the ACLU and have woeked intensely on quite a few notable projects. while doing all of this i have bee taking classes at nashville tech to get some prerequisites out of the way because it is so inexpensive there. I think that if i go to admissions with a clear arguement and some good essays behind my back then I should be ok. so yea, thanks for pointing that out for me because i never really considered that as a problem yet and i should have that in the back of my mind as i wait.

Good call, I kinda wish that i had taken time off, but then again i also kinda wanted to get it over with, but I'm pretty much of the opinion that college will always be alienating (at least for me). There are some issues about it being harder to go later and some colleges frowning on late applicants, but with someone as passionate as you, especially since you have some clear goals and reasoning behind the path you have taken, that shouldn't be a problem.

elaborate on how college is alienating? i hate feeling alienated or awkward in a situation...college might suck if that's the case! i still will go though; that just means it'll suck.
