I yelled at it as it went by while still in Mississippi. 8 of the 11 Mississippi deaths from that day were in a small town of about 700 about 8 miles south of here, totally wiped it off the face of the earth.
I'm glad you and fam are OK. I thought of you when all of it was happening. A co-worker of mine also has family near the AL/MS border--her great-aunt's house had significant damage, but her grandpa's house right next door was untouched. That's how storms go.
My brother is a firefighter--he was going down to AL to visit my dad next week anyway... but then I get a message from him yesterday morning that he was taking time off early and shipping down there with the Red Cross to help with disaster relief. Everyone else in the fam in Tuscaloosa is fine--they have electricity, phones, and even cable. They're way better off than a lot of people there right now.
