Hell, I can't believe no one else has commented on this yet.

Once again, you kick butt at characterization. For example, I didn't know jack squat about Vivien Leigh, but by the time I finished reading your story she felt like a well-developed OC.

Have you just studied all the Beatles biographies out there? I didn't even remember the "Fatty" thing until I read your story!

The idea of Paul screwing up when he's known for giving the poorer-playing bandmembers crap was a great idea, especially the part where he doesn't back down from his opinion.

Did Ringo ever hook up with her? I don't remember reading that story anywhere.

Anyway, fantastic job!

Paul did actually screw up his first gig with the Quarrymen. Says Colin Hanton about John's and his own reaction: "I thought he ((John) was going to lay into him something fierce. But no. Paul McCartney - normally so confident, so cocky, so gracefull even ill at ease that you wanted to hate him - looked so deflated. Why, John laughed so hard, he almost pissed himself ( ... )

Again, another wonderful story about those early years. I loved the idea of Mrs. Harrison sending along food treats for those poor McCartney boys and George's humiliation at being the delivery boy. The head butting scene was hilarious and Paul defending his younger mate was precious. Very visual. No wonder Paul has always referred to George as his little brother. And I didn't miss the subtle bit about those bruises on Paul that George assumed was from his mate walking in to things. Nice touch. Those first months after losing their Mum must have been so hard for both the McCartney boys. So well written. Looking forward to reading more.

Ever since reading George did that I wanted to include the headbutting scene in a story. :) And yes, the fact that the Harrisons knew the McCartneys before Mary died (making George the only future Beatle who actuallyknew Paul's mother) and thus would have been able to witness the immediate fallout was something I thought could bear more fictional exploration as well.
