The only time I feel the pain now...

...is when my roommate catches me singing "9 to 5."

So I bought a copy of Karaoke Revolution, the CMT version.

I don't know why I did it.  I really don't.  I was a fool.  A damn fool.  I guess I sort of assumed that it would have more Dwight Yoakam than it does.  In fact, I naturally assumed that it would have his entire catalogue, three songs by ( Read more... )

Country music sucks donkey balls, and I don't care how many people who are in power like it or how many of my friends or relatives like it.

Until recently, I always confused Kenny Rogers with Willie Nelson and had always envisioned Nelson singing that song.

I only knew that it was Rogers from that episode of Reno 911.

I love some country songs. Patsy Cline can do no wrong (could do no wrong, I should say), and Dwight Yoakam is amazing. But by and large, yeah, country sucks.

That song is about drunk homeless gamblers giving free advice on a train. Sounds like my daily commute! If Kenny Rogers had an iPod, "The Gambler" may never have been written. That's how I avoid those deluded and deranged people.

And Buffet's best karaoke song is "One Particular Harbor." I mean, with its accessible lyrics, it's a karaoke natural.

I have to disagree with you there. Buffet's best karaoke song is Why Don't We Get Drunk.

Why don't we get drunk and screw
I just got a waterbed it's filled up for me and you.
They say you are a snuff queen.
Honey, I don't think that's true.
So why don't we get drunk and screw.

I mean how can you not love a song like that?

You need to tune up your sarcasm detector. :)

And you're right - there's nothing better than listening to people perform that song when they've already fulfilled the first part of that credo. "Whhhy don we git drunnnk and SCREWWWW?"

And I wonder why no one ever uses the term "snuff queen"?
