I lost. In fact, I got the second lowest score of the night. The audience booed the judges so hard I thought there might have been violence... and that thought consoles me... more on this l8r. i'm too tired tonight..

So, oddest thing. My piece went over amazingly well with the audience, but scored lukewarm with the judges. In fact, I don't really understand many of the judges scores tonight. Poets who'd I score with 9's have gotten 7's. My own score, and I'm uncertain at the moment what it is exactly, cause I got a coupla 8's and I kinda blanked out, but I ( Read more... )

Just finished with the $100 Haiku Slam, made it to the final round and went toe to toe with the big bad Sekou the Misfit out of Los Angeles. I lost, but it took a tiebreaker to do it. Maybe I'm not as rusty as I thought. In another two hours the first round of the main slam begins. I drew 9th in an order of 30 poets.. Don't really like going that ( Read more... )

So I'm sitting here in the registration room, waitin to get my weekend pass. I already recognise some of the poets here. One guy I saw at the Nuyurican years ago. The competition is definitely steep.
