We got the paper. Company finally saw some reason and gave me a rraise, which my tax and pension scheme almost entirely ate, but isn't the gesture the thing? Pretty sure the gesture's the thing.

This creates a little bit more stability, except for all the reasons it doesn't, such as the fact we now own an adorable yet expensive little dog. ( Read more... )

You completely get the time travel idea! I'm not sure how one would survive in the initial instance here in the UK, unsure if it's the same there, but almost all our coinage and paper money has changed format weirdly often over the decades. So any money I bring back literally wouldn't be money.

Digital bank account? Nope, not in the 80s. I guess you'd have to fraudulently imply a bank account had been active with yourself since 1979 or something, pump it full today, then go get the money back in the past.

From there, just as you say, use some forward knowledge to stay comfy, but my main goal would be noninterference. I'm in two minds if I'd set a hard cap on 2019 so as to not participate in the pandemic - go back to the 80s a second time in my elderly ways if needs be - or shore up in advance for that, live as a hermit throughout and actually be old enough for a priority vaccine in 2021...

I massively recommend Persona, but I'm also hugely biased!
