Kota Kinabalu Travelogue 1

Jan 25, 2010 01:06

So I was really glad to receive a complimentary trip to any particular destination in Malaysia sitting Malaysia Airline (MAS),
and decided on Kota Kinabalu!

I know I know, for the past few weeks whenever I mentioned Kota Kinabalu (ok, short form, KK), I get the same question and reaction.
"Wah, you gonna climb the mountain?!" Hmm, it sounds either like,
1) they think that there's nothing else to do in KK except to climb the Mount Kinabalu
2) they think that the only attraction in KK is Mount Kinabalu, again.
3) they think that nobody would go KK except to climb Mount Kinabalu.
4) Mount Kinabalu, Mount Kinabalu, Mount Kinabalu. Where's Kota Kinabalu? In the mountain?
5) THEY ARE DOUBTFUL THAT I CAN CLIMB THAT MOUNTAIN AND COMPLETE THE WHOLE TREK!!!!

So yes, Mount Kinabalu is the famous mountain that is a challenge to many to complete the whole trek. My parents went last year and attained the certificate, very satisfied that they completed, reached the peak and saw the sunrise, but came back with a whole body aching like mad syndrome for almost a week! I will climb that mountain and am gonna complete it and get the certificate, one day, one day. The trip to KK two weeks back was of pure relaxation and woohoo, I didn't know KK has such beautiful beaches!!!!!

Anyway, my flight was scheduled in the morning.

I love the corset, high waisted shorts, and short boots I got!

Checked in and got my Air Tickets.
I've to transit at Kuala Lumpur International Airport to KK. But no worries, you can get a direct flight to KK too.

Oh yes, Selene was invited to join in the trip with me! :)

Trust me, she was really excited...... :p

Entering the flight, it was a FULL flight.

Various newspaper available in different languages. No i wasn't going to take the Malayu langauge one, I was just looking!

The uniform of the stewardess is kinda pretty....

The colourful seats.
Unlike the usual airplane with monotone colours, the colourful seats made the atmosphere more lively and most importantly, cosy. Each seat was already equipped with a blanket sealed in a plastic bag and a headset to tide you comfortably through the flight!

My new Caucasian Friend. :)
Ok, he was literally asleep throughout the whole journey.

<3

Reached KL International Airport.

Big aiport with pretty clean surroundings!

Oooooo, look at these seats. And it looks so cute with everyone sort of lying down there.

I got spotted by the two guys. the First two guys from the left. They should be sleeeping, brrrrrr.

Selene told me it was so comfortable that you can fall alseep the next minute. Maybe I'll try if I have longer transit at KL airport next time.

Water coolers in airport is a MUST! since we can't bring liquid into the plane.

Shopping during transit.

spot Selene.

Love chocolates!!!

She can really eat...

We were extremely hungry but we wanna leave some stomach space for food served on the next flight...

, and we shared a texas hotdog!

Hmmm, okay, all friends should totally try this together one day. its good!!

told you. it looks so yummy here already.

And off we go for the next flight. KK, we are coming!!!

Finally, our food.

Curry Fish with Rice. Not bad, but kinda dry though. Would have been better if they added some curry on the rice too.

Nasi Briyani. But this was COMPLETELY DELICIOUS. Very tasty with the perfect degree of spice and served pipping hot!

Each set came with three ferrero rocher, WOW! love it!!!!!!

The flight with Malaysia Airlines was a good journey and flight attendants were very attentive to your needs almost immediately and quick.

Experience for the whole flight was a good and pleasant one, and I guess I would rate that because, I was soundly asleep throughout the whole flight!!!! hehehehehe.

And upon looking outta the window,

no not yet........

We saw KK!!!!

Now I know I can take pictures like those in the geography textbooks too. hohoho, copyright ah.

See? She is really so excited!!

It was my first time at KK, and surprisingly, the attractions that we went and explored are definitely places I would go again if I need a short getaway. It is similar to Phuket and you can do the same activities, see the same "kind" of people (like foreigner tourists etc), except that
- You get to taste the authentic delicious local delights at very cheap prices
- You get to eat HUGE and FRESH seafood at cheaper price
- You can to enjoy sea activities at CLEARER seawater
- You expenses are MUCH LESSER for the same range of acitivites as compared to Phuket/ Batam
- You live, relax, eat and enjoy like a King/Queen!!!!

Its even better than Phuket!!! Just that I think Phuket is more commercialized and has really good marketing for its location.
But KK is absolutely comparable or might be even better.

Will be back for more on what you can do in KK and approximately how much you will be spending there! Its definitely one destination I would recommend ya for a getaway!!!
