If the young men are acting out, sometimes the best thing to do is to let them posture and fight until they have spent their excess energy. When my male cousins would get testy, I found it was easiest to take the female cousins up to the ladies' quarters and ignore them entirely, as you say you will do. The menfolk would eventually wear themselves out and act like proper gentlemen again, and usually before Father would have to have words with them.
