I just talked to the puss and told him you were coming and that he should give you a call.
Man, that's awesome that you got people dancing to powerpop! I haven't DJed, but I've hung out at Kessler's DJ nights enough to know how frusterating it is when no one shows up or no one is dancing, especially when you're playing something super dance-y like powerpop. People are just like "eh, I don't know this, I'm not dancing" but occassionally you can trick them and they're like "Oh no, I don't know this, I'd better fake it!" and everyone's fakin' it because powerpop songs all sound like sounds you SHOULD know.
What's your group going to be called? My friend Joel had a dream that he was in a power-pop band called the Non-Stops. The key is that most power-pop bands have really terrible names, like the Donkeys. Well, names that are so bad that they're actually kind of good, but still bad, but at the same time just O.K., like the Smirks.
Hey Jason, This is Michael (from the other night). Jessica pointed me in the direction of your journal. I going to add you.
Oh, I was serious about the Milwaukee thing. I wrote my friend who organizes things at a bar called River Horse there (plus you get free drinks and some cold hard cash at the end of the night). I dj there from time to time and the draw is really great. Maybe we could collaborate and really get things moving.
I keep meaning to dj here in Chicago, but I'm a stranger in a strange land, so I doubt I could make it happen.
