i should have gone to bed a while ago, but i keep having 'just one more' beer and playing 'just one more' billy bragg song. i wonder if i'll ever get good enough at the guitar to play a show by myself, or meet people in this city that would want to form a band. i'm not quite sure if it's depressing. i think im still pretty optimistic about it. just ( Read more... )

dude, I'm in the same boat. At least you started playing guitar awhile ago and you have musical training. I'm trying to learn to play the bass for the same reason you mentioned, but I don't know anything, I mean anything about playing music. People tell me it's pretty easy to pick up, but that's only more discouraging. I've really got to keep at it. Getting too old seems like a problem when you think about how old your favorite musicians probably were when they were doing their best stuff, but the whole age thing has changed. Like what was 20 in 1965 is like 25 in 2005, you know? People live longer and less hard, you used to have to grow up faster. I think we've talked about this before. Just look at a 16 year old from your dad's yearbook. He'll look 30. Or think about your grandparents when they were roughly your parents age.

I always think I just want to start a record label and put out records, but being in a band would be 1000x easier, probably cheaper, and probably more satisfying.

noone in gardner plays anything musical. and since I have been learning music theory up the ass. i have been excited to play with more people but nope everyone is way to boring. billy bragg *trendy heart*
