The winamp stream works fine If it's running on a seperate box with linux i think you can up your connects and what not you can defaintly get more then 10 connections and you can make the quality higher. should be fine
i can't connect at work, and i'm assuming alot of other people won't be able to either. do you think i can set it up to run on port 80? most office firewalls just block by outbound port right? and the only downside to running the stream from port 80 would be if i wanted to host webpages from that box (which i don't) i wouldn't be able to...right?
i've had way to much time to mull this over -- i wish i was working on it right now.
yeah at first i thought that, but now im not so sure. how would it be any more vulnerable than hosting webpages? the idea of running it on 80 is that it would make it through office firewalls, as far as operations are concerned theres no difference between running on 80, 8000 or whatever -- it's just 80 is so common there are more brute force type attacks out there, i'll just have to lock it down more carefully --- right? maybe i should make a post over on the shoutcast support forums.
i changed it over -- but dumbass that i am forgot that i have port 80 forwarded to a different machine on the firewall. i'm still at work so i won't be able to fix it till i get home in about an hour -- so for now --- server's down.
