When I was a kid, my unsophisticated tastes made it perfectly logical to enjoy the Monkees as much as the Beatles. I guess the same holds sway with the Spice Girls and many twenty-something women out there. I'm amazed to see young female bloggers posting with excitement about the newly reunited Spice Girls tour. I'm used to seeing them write about Arcade Fire, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and endless indie bands, so this is a bit disconcerting. I wonder what would happen if I introduced Smack the Pony as some newly rediscovered girl band?
