i've spoken to a few people who've done it, and they all say that they don't really know where that idea came from, because the peace corps isn't at all about christianity, or any other religion, for that matter. they suggested that maybe people got that impression because a lot of groups embrace faith and spirituality and all that, but it is by no means an official part of the organization.

i want to join the peace corps too. in fact, i'm pretty much set on it. it's something i need to do for myself as much as for other people.

yay (:

Ya, I had always thought that it did have religious undertones until i did some research on it. It doesnt seem to have any religious affiliation now.

Punctuation is only ever inside the quote if it is part of what is being quoted. That's British, the Americans do it the other way, but as we all know they're wrong.

Christian crap????????

Anyway, my only question to you, Lauren, as far as your interest in doing something for someone else, is what's the difference between people who are needy in America and those in need somewhere else? Regardless of where you go or how much you hate the United States, there will always be people everywhere who need your help.

there is no difference in helping somone here or someone somewhere else; this issue lies in whether or not i want to stay in the US- I don't hate the US at all... I'm just thinking that I might benefit from a break from this country. Also, the decision is about exactly how I want to help people- the peace corps and teach for america are pretty different in hat they do and how they do it. anyways, that decision is a long way off, so there's time to decide. :)
