wasnt chateaubriand the one who said that everyone should follow christianity because its the most beautiful religion? (just an aside.)

i think the only people who are capable of learning nothing from the world are the ones who have been so stifled from birth with a particular ideology (racism, communism, etc) that they cant or dont want to explore further. certainly with those things innocence is lost, and yet people still learn nothing of the world.

and of course its right that you're losing innocence. its the only way you learn. can you imagine if you could somehow control how much innocence you lose, and when? can you imagine what would happen if you never lost it? how boring would that be? and how easy it would be for people with malintentions to violate your world?
