On the Beasts Name

I just found these and they are very well researched and counter most every instance of Beast being called Adam

I personally met one of Beasts main animators at a convention a few years back and asked him and he was competently surprised and baffled by the rumor.

One more! From Glen himself!

Actually this makes me madder than you possibly know.

Especialy Glenn's answer. i want to deck him, I don't care who he is!

He's missing the whole damn part of the story, the Beast IS A FREAKING HUMAN. He deserves to have a name and IS MARKETED AS ADAM (in some cases)

And logically it would be a GOOD CHOICE because if anyone stopped to find the original tale (NOT BEAMONT which a watered down version of the actual tale) humans are called "the race of Adam" and he's one of the only PURE humans in the story, Beauty included (she's party fairy)

So I will always call him Adam and no one will convince me otherwise.

Not having a name and this odd insistence to disprove a name kind of dehumanizes him.

Amen. The decision not to give him a name in the first movie doesn't bother me TOOO much (if that was all we had seen and heard from him) but it became a bit too much when they created a sequel that had the Prince speak a bit more and interact even more than the original. At some point you have to acknowledge a name of some sort as his Christian name.

Well, he's not the only Disney Prince with out a name. Snow White and Cinderella's princes don't have names either.

I've never called the Beast anything but that or the Prince, but shouldn't he actually have a French name, since the fairytale is originally from France?

"The race of Adam" is a good point, anyway.

Sooo... does that mean I can use "Adam" in a Beauty and the Beast rewrite(one that is not necessarily based upon the movie but would have a lot of the same beats that were discarded from earlier versions)? At some point Disney may have to decide to "claim" (i.e. trademark) the name officially through those other "uses" of the name. The other question I have is what would it take for that trivia guy to decide that "Adam" is the prince's Christian name?

Yeah... I never really understood the insistence that Beast's name was Adam. As a bit of fanon/headcanon, I don't mind it, but when people keep spreading around that's his Real or Official name as if it's a bit of interesting trivia, when it's clearly false, I get kind of frustrated ( ... )
