My wife, like many other women, has switched to using a mooncup.

Not only is it environmentally freindlier than using cotton tampons, it is also avoiding the problems mentioned here.

I could've sworn that was an urband legend...

There is not now, nor has there ever been, asbestos in tampons. Companies are not putting a known carcinogen into feminine hygiene products just to increase the need for them ( ... )
