John Petrucci: brilliant genius Mark Tremonti: cant answer, dont know his stuff Steve Vai: creative genius Joe Satriani: awesome player Bumblefoot: creative, hilarious, awesome shredder Linkin Park : no Axl Rose: annoying as hell Yngwie Malmsteen: his pompous, asshole attitude outweigh is playing ability Jimi Hendrix: highly overrated Jethro Tull: cool Prog: a legit awesome style of playing Shredding: a legit guitar technique, when used in moderation Dave Matthews: no Mars Volta: the future of prog, they are saving it System of a Down: System isn't prog at all Zakk Wylde: mindless shredder
I'm not a very big System fan. But, they are, however, slightly prog. They're out there, and some of the riffage is interesting and kind of cool. The singer has a unique voice that is awesome at times. Over all, they're stuff just goes over the edge for me. I don't really like that.
John Petrucci: brilliant genius Mark Tremonti: shoot me, I dunno who this is o.O Steve Vai: creative genius Joe Satriani: awesome player Bumblefoot: creative, hilarious, awesome shredder Linkin Park : annoying as fuck and should be ejected into space. Axl Rose: great singer BUT annoying as hell Yngwie Malmsteen: dunno him well enough to pass judgement Jimi Hendrix: greatest guitar player of all time Jethro Tull: cool Prog: legit, awesome style of playing? Shredding: I'll have to agre with matt100fly, a legit guitar technique when used in moderation Dave Matthews: very overrated and should also be ejected into space. Mars Volta: dunno well enough System of a Down: a pile of crap - I really don't like them very much. Zakk Wylde: neither, but awesome.
trust me if you like prog, go get a mars volat CD, either will do, but I recomend Frances the Mute, it is prog for the new century. Dream Theater is keeping it alive while The Mars Volta is taking it to new and uncharted grounds. But I still perfer DT over TMV, for the simple fact that DT has made better CD's than TMV, LIke Scenes from a memory. but TMV is just plain awsome Cedric fucking rocksout on the guitar he is my hero, behind JP.
What I heard from Mars Volta, I didn't really like. Maybe it's because my brother introduced them as "exactly like Dream Theater," and they sounded nothing like Dream Theater. I should give them another chance.
John Petrucci: brilliant genius Mark Tremonti: *please don´t beat me down with sticks, but I´m not sure who this is* Steve Vai: creative genius Joe Satriani: boring as hell Bumblefoot: creative, hilarious, awesome shredder...there are no other options -kay, I´ll just agree then... Linkin Park : no? Axl Rose: annoying as hell, but listenable. Yngwie Malmsteen: amazing player Jimi Hendrix: highly overrated, but he did make guitar a lead part of a band, not just something in the back, behind the trombone- and saxophone-players. Jethro Tull: cool Prog: musical masturbation Shredding: legit guitar technique Dave Matthews: overrated Mars Volta: pile of crap, but a pile of crap that I like System of a Down: the future of prog(for those who are not "fucking-weirdo-sounds"-crippled) Zakk Wylde: savior of somewhat mainstream rock
i>John Petrucci: definitely brilliant Mark Tremonti: pass Steve Vai: creative genius Joe Satriani: awesome player with a gift for good melody Bumblefoot: don't know him Linkin Park : not my thing, but a lot better than Limp Bizkit Axl Rose: has LSD. 12 years after he shouldn't. Could have been on the top of the world again if he wasn't an idiot. Yngwie Malmsteen: amazing player whose pompous, asshole attitude outweigh his playing ability. And I don't like his style, although that's a matter of taste. Jimi Hendrix: Don't know enough to say how much of a genius he was, however he was influential on a lot of people. So I'll say Jimi is a god (on guitar legend scale) Jethro Tull: don't know Prog: musical masturbation or a legit, awesome style of playing? both. Shredding: mindless, musical masturbation or a legit guitar technique? if done right, both as well. Dave Matthews: I'm happily ignorant on this issue Mars Volta: --- System of a Down: didn't know they were prog. They have my respect. Zakk Wylde: mainstream? Has BLS become
