Friggin' income-tax-less state...

Have you ever heard of the RTA Excise tax? I got my vehicle tab renewal postcard in the mail (last month, and only just now found it, and then only after going through all the piles of paper in my dining room, living room and den). It had a nice "Renew online!" banner on it, so I thought, that sounds like a good plan! So I went online to renew and ( Read more... )

This state is socialist? You and I need to take a little trip to a large, communist nation known to its bordering countries as California.

I haven't received my vehicle tab renewal notice yet, but since you did, I'm sure I will shortly. I'll let you know if I have the same tax.

You spoiled, spoiled people... nevyn522 July 12 2005, 07:28:42 UTC
Try living in SEATTLE, where there's a THREE HUNDRED dollar MONORAIL tax.

Now consider that for one moment: Congratulations on owning your own transportation, and paying our outrageous gas prices! Why don't you go ahead and pay us extra to provide transportation for those who don't have their own cars?

I'm glad I moved.

But for your information...

See the comment about socialism. I wonder if California has anything like the monorail tax? It does seem kind-of ironic that they tax the car owners to pay for the monorail. To pay for road improvements, that I can understand. But the excise tax? That's to pay for buses! You'd think they'd increase bus fare. But no.

Well, I guess the point is to take from those who can and give to the poor. I never thought about Robin Hood being a socialist. Kinda scary. But to be fair, he was taking from the rich who were cheating the poor, not the middle class who were working just as hard.

You know, Jesus said more about taking care of the poor than he did about life after death. I guess he knew that looking forward to heaven while screwing over the poor on earth wasn't going to help our souls.

Hehe, be glad you don't own a car. :) Every year, I have to pay the stupid state of Washington for the privilege of driving on their overcrowded roads using my own vehicle. I love America.
