thinking too much

As I am nearing the end of my schooling, (well, at least this phase) I am having to make some crucial choices in what I really want to teach when I get out of school. I think back to the most influential teachers I have had and of course Cumpston and Othus come to my thoughts most often. How could I possibly even hope to portray as much passion ( Read more... )

Sounds like someone hasn't been listening closely enough to their mentors. ;-) Do you need a reminder?

Keep the dream alive Sarah!!!

You definitely have the drive and the ablitity to achieve above and beyond what our mentors have taught us. You have a head start in that you've seen these wonderful people teach. You know what needs to be done to achieve that level of teaching. All there is to do from there is to consider the ways that their teaching styles can be improved. Think of how many people's lives those men have touched and how much it means to just touch one. How will you ever know how many people will call you "Spear" if you don't do it?

Just keep on keepin' on, OR ELSE I'LL PULL OUT YOUR TONGUE WITH A RUSTY SPOON!!!

:-p

I second David's comments - keep the dream alive. Just thinking about this is more than many of the school teachers we've had ever did. And don't aspire to be Cumpston or Othus - you have different strengths than they did - but making a difference? Hell yeah. Passing down the spirit of what Othus and Cumpston did? I trust you will. And displaying passion about a subject? If you display half as much passion about LOTR as you do whatever you choose to teach then you'll have no problems... =) But seriously, I have no doubt in my mind that you'll make the best teacher as long as you QUIT DOUBTING YOURSELF! ; )

I love you!

Bear, you will never be a teacher like Cumpston or Othus. You must become your own. I agree with David in that you have learned something from your great teachers, but striving to match them will lead to failure. Strive for individuality (something you cannot achieve if trying to be someone else), that is what made Othus so amazing. He wasn't confined to a text book like he could have been. Hell, Othus wasn't confined to his classroom. What I'm saying is; by being a teacher, you are already great, by being yourself, you are perfected. Ciao.

Sarah, if you show passion you will inspire. When I first was getting to know you I noticed a glowing, friendly girl who everyone liked because you couldn't help it, you are so caring. You have the abilty to be a great teacher you just have to trust yourself. Othus and Cumpston were great teachers because they love/ed what they do/did and wanted to share that. If you teach like that you will have no problem inspiring others. I love you Sarah. You have the abilty to be a great teacher, all it takes is the effort. Don't doubt yourself. Anna
