Does anyone else think it's insane that some parents don't want their daughters to have the HPV/cervical cancer vaccine because they don't want to have a sex talk with your 10 year old? Also, stupid woman on Oprah, your daughter wont think that they're free to have unprotected sex if you actually talk to them about the risks involved in having sex

If one's only reason for not allowing your daughters to have the HPV vaccine is because one doesn't want to have a sex talk with a ten year old, then yes, that truly is insane!

Perhaps I'm not the best person to talk about the subject, because I don't have children (and I doubt I ever will) but I really don't understand the hang-up. A friend of mine takes the approach of answering every question her kids (8 and 10) ask as truthfully as possible -- but without going into unnecessary detail which they don't need to know yet. I don't see that an explanation for the HPV vaccine needs to be any more detailed than a vaccine for measles or tetanus or whatever else kids get vaccinated against these days...
