I can't find it here! The more I think about it, the more I am sure that it was called Saint Mauvin, and there are no web sites that show cheeses anything like this stuff. I guess they don't think that English speakers will be down with the brainy texture on the rind. There were others that we got that also had a dark green rind with the same brainy texture. I thought they were delightful but I can see how folks would be grossed out.
Oh, er, of course. There are probably better ones out there from the same show. There ya go. But yes, you may certainly save mine, and stalk my flickr for more.
ETA: The dude was not actually illiterate, just to be clear. Just being a smartass because there were so freaking many people trying to shove fliers at you all the time.
He was German, and when I told him that I had actually met people his age in the US who could not read, he was shocked and appalled, and interestingly, his first question was, "What if you have a food allergy, and you can't read the ingredient label in the grocery shop!?" I had *not* mentioned my food allergies, so it was really weird/cool to me that this was the first place his head went.
Thanks! I'm on a serious reminiscing kick since I don't have the pictures from my own trip.
Haha, I didn't think he was actually illiterate, I just love the excuse. Hellfest is full to the brim with completely ridiculous people. And definite kudos to him for actually considering that kind of stuff--it was one thing in my grandparents' but at this point I really don't know how people function at all past a certain age in modern society without being able to read.

I do draw the line at cheese with live maggots in it, though.
