Heheh, well I sort of didn't know it was him for a long time, and then when he told me the story, he was clearly in so much pain over it that I didn't want to talk about it too much. Basically, it was a combination of friers that were known to be running too hot and a malfunctioning fire containment system, and the fact that the owner had let the insurance lapse just for a few days in order to be able to cut everyone's paychecks. So it could probably have happened to anyone, or at least many people, but it happened to him, and it unfortunately resulted in the place being shut down for a few thousand years instead of a couple of months ( ... )

Duane (of black house fame) was the major power behind getting it re-opened, so of course it took a few thousand years. The city hates him, and he's also disorganized, illogical, and overall a poor manager/investor. I'm actually fairly upset that he's the one who got it back open, but still happy that it's open again.

I will still always remember the Reef as the place that served me cheesy fries with a healthy side of pubes. No thanks.

Hott. Well the joy of the Reef is mostly the bar-cave and the AM happy hour. But I had nothing but sanitary food experiences there once it passed into new ownership. Who knows what it'll be like now- Duane bought it.

Now I can't stop picturing severed pig's heads. We will see an entirely new level of cuisine in downtown Olympia.

It's been years, and I can still smell the rot.
