Fate...excert from "Kafka on the Shore"

"Sometimes fate is like a small sandstorm that keeps changing directions. You change direction but the sandstorm chases you. You turn again, but the storm adjusts. Over and over you play this out, like some ominous dance with death just before dawn. Why? you know, the more you post lately the more i feel like you are a wished-for-nearby-neighbor, one i could sit on porch steps with at night with a bottle of wine and have long conversations with.

kafka on the shore was the first murukami novel i had ever read. i've now read his biggies, and i think this one's still my favorite.

i love how cats are full-fledged characters in his novels (just like they are in my life, except minus the talking. i have to provide the voices in my household).

yeah, i would enjoy that i'm sure... sitting on the porch steps at night w/ wine... i miss long conversations.

i have to admit something. i haven't actually read kafka on the shore. in fact i haven't read any of his work. BUT i fully intend too. it seems silly, but i've just gotten back into reading (like it's another one of my life changes... to spend more time doing meaningful things that i actually enjoy rather than draining my time in front of the tv). so yes, judging from his quotes on goodreads.com i can tell that i will love his writing and i'm looking forward to reading his work. i've already requested kafka on the shore from the library.

i love that about the cats... of course i didn't know until you said something, but that seems like something i will appreciate about his writing! :)
