1. Loki on Disney+
(Getting to see Kid Loki in the MCU fills me with squee, not to mention Thorg.)
2. Shards of Honor by Lois McMasters Bujold*
(If anyone is feeling generous enough to buy me
Barrayar, I'd appreciate it.)
Thanks again

Aral is my favorite in the first book too (though I do also love Cordelia), and one of my top favorite characters for the series.
re: sequels, how do you feel about ebooks whose provenance I cannot vouch for? I have an EPUB copy of Cordelia's Honor, which includes Barrayar as the back half, if you'd be interested.
Alternatively, if you have a local library that's doing hard copy books, you will probably have better luck finding Barrayar as part of the Cordelia's Honor omnibus, and the same may well be true of many of the Miles books, also.
(My usual MO is to just lend folks my for-lending copies of the books, but you live a little far for that, alas...)

Thanks, I'm very glad you helped me take the plunge!

Cool! I wondered a bit if he'd hold up as I get further into the series. It's a relief to hear he's a top favorite of yours when you've read not just a book, but the series.

*vbeg* I remember the days of Napster and MegaUpload with nostalgia. I have many a music and video of... questionable... provenance. The only issue I'd have is not being sure if I could get it to work on my kindle.

Aaah, I should see if I can figure out how to read an EPUB on my kindle then.

I've been enjoying Loki so much that I haven't watched the finale yet because I don't want the series to be over. I was so nervous about how on Earth they were going to do a Loki series after what they did to him in Infinity War. It's not only been a great series, but it let Old Loki skewer the ridiculousness of what was done to Loki in Infinity War. So. Much. Squee.
...and the Vorkosigan Saga! You have so many great Vorkosigan books ahead of you now. :)
Thanks! I feel a bit foolish for having taken so long to take the plunge now that I've actually tried it. It is just as much fun as I've always been promised it was.

Yeah, 'weird fiction' is S&S all over. Not a show for explanations!

It is! It's a young adult sci-fi adventure series. If it were older I'd have devoured it in junior high or high school right along with Anne's Pern books. Its take on dragons is more than different enough from hers so that it doesn't at all read as derivative. There are six books in the series. The series is called the Dragonback series. I will be reading more of it just as I will be reading more of the Vorkosigan Saga.

I think the lack of explanations even affected how I felt about the pacing. I mean I can be forgiving of an older show feeling somewhat slow, but S&S felt like it wasn't just going slowly but going nowhere slowly. I might enjoy seeing Silver and-or Steel in a crossover fic, but the show as a whole doesn't work for me. I find the idea of Steel and Illya Kuryakin annoying the Hell out of each other a bit amusing.
