Got the Outback serviced today, and it turns out that the horrible screeching noise was just a belt that needed to be tightened. A quick forty dollars later and now my car won't frighten small children and animals when I start it or when I turn to the left ( Read more... )

So sorry to hear about Aunt Olive, but I know she's tough. AND, OH! My car is doing that, too! I should take it in, but I'm afraid they'll find all kinds of other crap that needs to be fixed...

but the squawking is scaring people outside the courthouse when I drive away from work...

I was worried that mine would be a billion dollars to fix, but it was, like, twenty bucks to tighten the belt. It was loud and horrible...that might be what yours is doing. Mine only did it when it was really cold.

Speaking of cold, I was sorry to hear that you caught Lobb's. You can hit him for me. :)
