The further adventures of I AM THE MOST RIDICULOUS PERSON...!

► GENERAL:
→ Oh, Madoka Magica fandom, you're just about all grown up now, aren't you? I'm not surprised the first kerfluffle was over the anime episodes potentially not airing at all (meaning, we'd have to wait until September or so when the dvds come out), it was bound to get some people wound up, and it's not like I'm not anxious for the ( Read more... )

I somehow managed to totally miss that post @ madokamagica. It's probably a good thing. There's only so much stupid I can take. I doubt there's a fan of the series that *wouldn't* be disappointed over possibly having to wait for the DVD release to get the last two episodes, but it's good to see most of them being mature and sensible enough to realise that, actually, Japan has bigger problems to deal with right now. And hey, Madoka is worth waiting for. I can be patient. It'd be nice if everyone else could be, too.

I know they devoted basically all of Super S to Helios/Chibi-Usa, but sometimes I think the anime really wanted to play up the f/f ships.

AND I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM WITH THIS. ::thumbs up:: Ah, you're making me want to watch this series all over again. And I was just going to give Nanoha a try after so many people recommended it to me.

(By the way, I also totally agree with blackmagie about Claymore. The anime original ending kind of let the series down, but everything else before that is awesome. I can't believe more people aren't aware ( ... )

Madoka Magica fandom was bound to attract a fan like this eventually, but I think it actually turned out rather well, all things considered. The fandom as a whole didn't look all that batshit insane, just the one lone guy. I think most people realize that Japan's got bigger shit to deal with right now and they'll get to it when the time is right for them.

I endorse the rewatching of Sailor Moon! Granted, this is my first time properly going through it in order (well, mostly in order), rather than catching episodes here and there, half of the time they were dubbed or really low-quality subs, but it's amazing how much more you pick up when you're really focused in on it. (And I've heard good things about Nanoha, too! Now you're making me curious again ( ... )

If it makes you feel any better, the Sailor Moon manga is nothing like the anime. (I was disappointed myself...but that's only because my love for Super is something that really can't be - or rather, hasn't been - beaten by any other series, and that's saying something.) I think the anime really deviates from the manga at the end of R, but I haven't read or watched either for too long for me to be certain.

I'm not sure what you're thinking of regarding the original timeline, but I presume something like "the road that leads to Crystal Tokyo"? In that case I believe we're totally left to fanwank ourselves to oblivion over this. .___.a Though, to the manga's credit, there's a bit more support to the whole future thing than there is in the anime; I think it's near the end of the Crystal Tokyo arc.

Personally, I loved S's ending. I almost loved it more than Classic. (I KNOW. :O) It had a different kind of epic for me; where Sailor Moon went to destroy in the last seasons, this time she went in to heal. Saturn had sacrificed ( ... )

I imagine you guys are going to be sick of me talking about Sailor Moon by the time I'm done, but I can't help it! I've been a fan for a long time, but I've never really just sat down and watched/read everything in order; it's always been piecemeal, here and there, over the years. Being able to actively compare the different versions (and eventually I'll pick up PGSM again and then finally get started on the musicals) has been a lot of fun and I've found it's enhanced my appreciation for both versions of the story.

In that case I believe we're totally left to fanwank ourselves to oblivion over this.I suspect that's probably it, too. My thing is that I'm not sure what the anime is trying to get at, if Setsuna knows the future or not, if this is the road to the Crystal Tokyo that we saw in R, or if they're making something new by monkeying with the timeline? It's not so much that I need to know ( ... )
