Your feelings with Tumblr is quite like mine with K-Pop. Not even the K-Pop fandom, because I'm almost always a fandom of one for myself (LOL I AM SO FAIL WITH INTERACTING), but the system upon which K-Pop and its fans had built themselves upon.
Someday I just. Need to quit it. Probably not forever, because damn but I love the people in K-Pop/insert fandom, but-- too much. Too much.
In other words, welcome back (while I'm in the heights of my own self-imposed semi-exile from fandom LOL) and I'm sending the love! (So much love.) I'm sorry your experience with Tumblr keeps seesawing so much, and I hope it'll get better.
(In case you're wondering about the stories I said I'd write for you almost a year ago, know that I'm actually still working on them! Very slowly. And if you don't remember... well then, it'll be a pleasant surprise for you when I do finish them. ♥)
It's very hard, because there's a lot of good in tumblr/fandom and you know that you're probably just oversensitive to it (or at least I am), that other people would probably think you were just being too butthurt about it, but... that doesn't ease up on the tensions. But, also, I really have not seen such widespread assholery on livejournal before. In pockets here and there, sure. But EVERYWHERE YOU GO? It's... I don't think it's just me.
I'm sorry that fandoms are getting to you, too. Sometimes I think we should all just become a bunch of hermits and stay on livejournal where we lock all our posts and never interact with anyone new.
And I remember those stories! I've been very good about not pushing over them! But, oh man, I want them! Give them to me! Giiiiiiiive! And then write more!! *ducks and runs, cackling*
I find Tumblr very frustrating at times. People spent years learning to be polite and come up with good arguments on lj and now I feel we are back in the dark ages with Tumblr. It's hard to have a meaningful conversation there and I just can't handle the rudeness. And the hate. People believe they are consequence-free when they say crap on Tumblr so it all fills with crap. I had to unfollow almost all the anime/manga tags I was following because they were driving me crazy (specially the Fullmetal Alchemist ones) so I get what you mean; and yes, I've seen pretty hurtful people roaming in the Sailor Moon fandom on Tumblr, and it shocked me a bit.
I'm sorry that you feel the same way but also kind of really glad not to be alone in this! I feel like livejournal really did encourage so much more thoughtful, reasonable, logical discussion where people weren't so casually hateful and rude. Tumblr is this weird mix of feeling like you can say anything (because it moves so fast, there's so much flying around that you're anonymous) and yet displaying your bad behavior to the world through reblogs and people tracking the global tags. It's a really bad mix.
I don't think I'd dare peek in on the FMA tags, the Bleach and Sailor Moon ones are bad enough! I've heard horror stories, though. (And about the Avatar: The Last Airbender tags.) But! Zau!! I didn't know you were into Sailor Moon!!! We should talk about it sometime!!!! :D!!!!!
