*nuzzles* I know exactly what you are going through. My great-gran dealt with this very sort of thing. Unlike your gran though, mine dealt with dementia for years. It was hard seeing her like that.
I know it is hard to do but don't shy away from her now. I still regret not being there when my great-gran passed on, though in my case I was 700 miles away and unable to be there.
It's.. really kinda too late. She passed away at 2am this morning while I was at work.. I'm glad I got to say goodbye. I wish I didn't feel so blank right now.
I've seen it happen to my Grandma too, same thing really.
Don't feel bad for feeling the way you do. I have a cousin who loved my Granny very much and even came from Ontario to visit her, but couldn't go back for the rest of the trip because she was so shaken up by how my Grandma had gone down hill.
