People suck. I also have gotten more animals offered to me than I can realistically rehome. I wish I had an answer for you on why people are so friggin stupid, but alas, not to happen. I've limited myself to cats atm due to location, and financial concerns. It would be so EASY to wind up overextended. I reccommend tlking to nyhamsterhouse aabout what this little guy will need. She is really good with small mammals and gives awesome advice to people who are taking in abandoned/neglected pets. I have no experiance with Gerbils or hamsters other than getting bit by one as a child, or I'd provide more than just moral support.
