I read on the TFA website that the average income in Manhattan is like $110,000. The averages for other boroughs are lower but nonetheless, it seems that an average like that can only really arise from massive income disparities the likes of which I can't quite fathom. Actually...yeah, pretty much. If you've got a mid-level income, you live somewhere the rent is cheaper, like one of the other boroughs, or New Jersey. To live somewhere halfway decent in Manhattan, you either have to have a lot of money, or live in subsidized housing.

Also, I'm guessing that $110,000 in Manhattan is like $70,000 in Indiana.

First of all, I don't think the average is that high...it was about $93,000 in 2005 ( ... )
