Yep, SSE is getting a huge rehab in the show itself and is getting a brand new post-show courtesy of Seimens. They could probably remove the arm and wand without shutting down the ride since I guessing that most of that will be done at night.
I never hated the arm and wand, but it will be nice to see SSE naked again. What I do hate is the ugly Leave-A-Legacy monoliths in front of SSE. Those are absolutely horrid and hopefully they'll be moved soon since they've stopped selling new tiles.
What, you don't like walking through a graveyard when you come in?
I always forget about those because we almost always come in through the International Gateway (we own DVC at Boardwalk). But I don't know where they'd put them - I know they can't take it down, but I don't know if they promised that it would stay in Epcot or in a prominent place on property or what. I can't remember where our tile is anymore anyway.
I think the promise was that they'd be displayed somewhere on Disney property for 10 years or something like that. Maybe they can move them to the end of the never completed walkway at the Magic Kingdom so that the bricks people bought down there that are hardly ever seen won't get lonely. d8^)
I prefer my graveyards to be in Liberty Square (speaking of another attraction receiving an overdue renovation).
The Haunted Mansion is my favorite place ever! It was the first thing I made hubby ride when I finally dragged him down to WDW. I didn't know they were renovating, though. No Eddie Murphy cameos, I hope ;)

I agree about the arm - it was really cheesy.

I love the SSE ride dearly, and I hope they don't change it too much.
