I don't know Reid at all, only know Hotch a little and have a vague idea of what happened before this, and. It really doesn't matter. I love that it's not romantic at all, no unrealistic h/c "healing sex," and yet amidst the pissed-offness, physical awkwardness and pain, Reid puts his hand over Hotch's stomach and Hotch braces Reid's knee. It's understated but the care despite everything comes through.

Between Hotch’s stubbornness and Reid’s problem-solving skills the biggest real hurdle is getting over their fear of really hurting each other, and they respect each other too much not to accept the other’s word that they’re okay for this.

That was where I fell in love, right there. Well, it probably started with The only thing sex accomplishes is sex, and they both know it. Neither expects a transcendental experience, the earth to move, or to fall into the most perfect love ever loved.

*giggles* Thanks. Actually, that very first line is what kept sticking in my head. I am SO SICK of sex being This Big Romantic Thing That Heals All. Maybe if you're Jack and leaking time out your ass, but not in general.

...And you generally loved the bits I liked about it. The bracing and supporting each other and TAKING EACH OTHER"S WORD FOR IT. ...THat's another peeve. "Are you sure?" "I'm sure." ARE YOU SURE?!:" "Positive" "I don't know, I might hurt you. Better not." ...It's disrespectful and aggravating, even to read.

I hadn't really thought about it being disrespectful, but it SO IS. That really is aggravating, and I don't think it had registered why in my head before.

Thanks. I'm still very carefully to find my groove/rhythm again and get a little more confident in another fandom as well as writing in general. It's taking some time but it's fun again and that's good.
