Becky, what pieces will you be singing on your recital? Also, without a doubt, go to Ann Arbor, even if you do get off the waitlist at JHU. Ann Arbor is a much more beautiful place to be than Baltimore, not to mention safer. Congrats on your project - what's it about?

the program:

Bellini: Malinconia, ninfa gentile
Vaga luna
Vanne, o rosa fortunata

Faure: Claire de lune
Mandoline
Apres un reve

Schubert: Shepherd on the Rock

-Intermission-

Barber: Hermit Songs: St. Ita's Vision
The Monk and His Cat
Sea Snatch

Bernstein: West Side Story: Somewhere
Tonight

Porter: Kiss Me, Kate: So in Love
Let's Do It (Let's Fall in Love)
Anything Goes: I Get a Kick Out of You

Lerner: My Fair Lady: I Could Have Danced All Night

(Encore is a surprise!)

Also, yeah. I agree with you about JHU and UM - the initial surprise of the JHU letter was what instigated my over-thoughtfulness. And lastly, my project is about liver cells and the liver disease cirrhosis.

Becky, what a fantastic program! I'm so sad I live so far away and can't come. Will this be recorded? If so, I would definitely love it if you'd send me a few of the songs =)

Good luck to you! As for JH vs. UMich, I'm assuming that Peabody is not in the running in conjunction with JH, right? In that case, UM is probably the best way to go, if only from the vocal standpoint (I'm sure there are other considerations but that one is pretty key).

Sorry about Y*** (don't want to say the Y word completely, lol =)

I'll definitely let you know if I record it :) Yeah, I neither applied to Peabody nor did I consider it - it's not as strong a conservatory as Michigan by far. Based on that fact alone, Michigan is a better choice. But there are other factors, too, and they all point to Michigan.

becky, GO TO JHU!! Which is a better school? I have a super-awesome friend going and she's like wetting her pants excited. Plus, it's near washington, so i'll be around all the time to visit you - i have to go to the capital a lot if i'm going to take over the world!

also, i really wish i could go to your recital. you'll sing beautifully.

UM is better than JHU (unfortunately?). besides, everyone knows the takeover capitol of the world is ann arbor.
