Title: Devour Book
Fandom: Transformers: Void
Characters: Perceptor
Classification: Darkish gen
Rating: PG
Author's Note: Sideways evidently decided not to do a Consume Mind on Perceptor after
Square Root of Negative One. Sometimes I think Sideways just wants to make a nation of Unicron-followers.

Perceptor walked along the lower alleys of Iacon, and mechs crossed the street to avoid him or refused to meet his optics if they felt brave enough to walk past him. There was something about him that reached into the depths of their programming, the parts that still lingered from the Quintessons, and said 'this is too dangerous'.
It intrigued him; there were no outward changes to his design. In such a mixed environment of toughs and rowdies, Decepticons and Autobots, he would have been terribly harassed before.
"Knowledge is power," he said softly and chuckled. "Power corrupts."
There was a library at the next corner, with that curious golden aura around it that he saw around any repository of data. It never appeared around Cybertronians, or Unicron for that matter, but he always saw it about Sideways. He had glimpsed it once around a very elderly organic creature before it died and the light snuffed out.
It was a very curious thing indeed, and all Sideways would say was that it was the Light of Knowledge, the capitalization detectable in his pronounciation of the words. Such a strange way of putting it, and yet another tidbit that fed Perceptor's suspicions that Sideways had served another god before Unicron. What Sideways could teach was not at all consistant with what Unicron had power over as a deity.
He stopped in front of the library and looked it over. He was on his own for this little romp, and if he couldn't integrate everything he learned fast enough, he would leave himself extremely vulnerable. Fortunately, his amusing little peccadillo of devouring data became easier the more he practiced it.
Admittance to the library was easily gained, and it only took a little bit of urging for the librarians to allow him to link up directly to the library's data-storage rather than run them ragged fetching datasticks containing all the texts he wanted. As the dark sciences that he planned to employ would erase the library's data-stores as he consumed their knowledge, it was both prudent and efficient to have access to everything at once. They would have no time to realize what he was doing until the deed was already done.
He smiled at the young librarian lingering in the doorway, her backswept door-wings quivering with a dread she couldn't understand. "I will be all right. You know what they say: knowledge is a feast for the mind. I plan to savor every swallow."
Her baby blue optics glittered as she nodded and backed out of the room with a stuttered apology. Briefly, he considered taking a more physical indulgence after he was done here. The body was the temple of the mind, after all, and it should be kept in utmost operating condition. The nagging tension in the back of his mind was ever so distracting...
