So it occurred to me that, while I keep up with my friends' livejournals, I haven't posted anything myself in months.
So the parking violation with the handicap sign thing was resolved successfully. The original placard was lost permanently, but I went to the DMV and got a replacement (plus a spare). I drove down to the Gurnee police station and showed them my placard, and it was reduced to a warning with no fine (as opposed to a $200 fine). Whew! That same day I visited my grandparents (who were at the time living only 5 minutes from the police station) and introduced them to Chris. My grandmother seems to adore him, as does every other female in my family. Hurrah!
We had our 2-year anniversary in August, where we spent two days going to Great America. We wanted to go to the waterpark, but Chris had gotten some gnarly road rash a couple days before, so we didn't think that would be very sanitary. It was very fun. I have to admit, though, that the most romantic moments are often unplanned entirely. <3
I took a couple classes over the summer and got an A and a B+ in those. I'm currently going to school part time for the fall semester. I'm only a couple credits shy of being a full-time student, so I swear I'm not just being lazy, I'm still doing a fair amount of work. In my sociology class my first two exams were a 96% and a 104%, while the class average was around 70%. Fuck yeah, go me! My other two classes I got an 86% (75% class average) and an 89% (75% class average). Things are looking up academically this semester.
I got a nasty lung infection over the summer right as I was leaving for Montreal to attend my sister's civil union. Antibiotics kicked me back to being healthy, though, so I was able to enjoy my trip. Since then my health has been mostly okay, with a couple of battles with headcolds that wanted to turn into chest colds. I've started a fancy new antibiotic, Cayston, but I can't yet report on its efficacy.
My life is honestly pretty fucking awesome right now, partly due to my happiness with my grades, partly due to my decent health, and partly (a large part) due to being with Chris. :-D
