Sunday: Road food on the way back from the Dayton Mensa Regional Gathering, which was a very very good time and over too fast!

I am so glad you are starting to realize that there is nothing you can do better/differently to change his mind. I spent about 5 years of my life trying to convince a person that I was indeed the right person for him, and realized only a lot later, that it never depended on me, on anything I could do or be, but was always his decision and opinion, which was formed a few years into our relationship, and after that, never changed.

Still, today I am grateful for the "push" this negative opinion of that person gave me, I have done a lot to get out from a too self-complacent frame of mind because of that, and even if the reason why I started to improve myself was a wrong one, the results nevertheless were good!

I truly thought he was a different person, honorable and loyal and kind. I have been so disappointed.

I can understand you well. But if a disappointment ultimately serves to makes us grow and evolve.. the person in our lives who has meted out that disappointment had their place too, painful as it might have been!
