I love french musical very much, I know all songs and all lyrics, this is really very beautiful musical) i have a DVD at home and I went twice to watch russian version.
I alreay knew about french one, so russian wasn't a surprise and reading about japanese I understand, that they did the copy in everything, but that how this remake works) the copy costumes, songs and stage disagne, just everything.
In the french version Romeo is very handsome guy with long black hair and I love his voice and Juliette was a girl, that 16 years old, that look little near Romeo, exactly like you said. The idea was to show them young and beautiful!

Thank you for all the info on the musical! I'm quite interested to watch the French version now, but I'll have to look into that when I get home. I had such a great time watching it in Japanese! ^_^

Evidently all the wacky stuff is down to the French original, so I'm keen to see that now! :-)
