I haven't posted here in a million years, so I have no idea if anyone will read this. I just need to get it out, which was the original intent of this journal anyway.

I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia--sort of. The sort of part is that my doctor did it here in my livingroom instead of in her office. I had gone in asking for something to help ( Read more... )

I'm sorry hon. I know that doesn't help or do anything productive/useful - but I'm here, and I think you're amazing and love you. <3 Always happy for you to ping me on fb and have a vent. Sending positive thoughts your way, darling.

I second Liz. If there is anything we can do from afar let us know. Even if it's just whining to me via phone because you feel you don't want to burden Mark anymore.
Go get a specialist for this. Your dr. will understand. It can't be about her it has to be about you. What about a support group in the area? Or a book club with wine? ;)
In either case- much love in your direction.

Make sure you stay hydrated, especially if wine is your painkiller of choice. I'd also say yoga, but you mention that. I've been in a horrible pain flare up for about the last year after years of very little pain (I was diagnosed when I was 15) and nothing I do seems to help, so if you find something that helps, share.

Jen, I haven't tried it, but my mom says that acupuncture helped her quite a bit. That surprised me because my mom is not a fan of no traditional medicine or needles.

I am so sorry! What a frustrating thing to be going through. I hope the yoga helps. Maybe some meditation too?

Thanks, Jenny. I hadn't considered meditation. It would probably help my messed up brain, too...

I started meditation with this book http://www.guilford.com/cgi-bin/cartscript.cgi?page=pr/germer2.htm. My therapist recommended it. Life changing! I don't know that it would help physical symptoms, I would say yoga but I don't know enough about the two together to say, but it will help mentally to stay calm and focused. It's lovely.
