1. I've got probably-a-canker-sore in the inside of my cheek, and the entire left side of my face hurts right now. If I remember correctly from the last time it happened, there's usually only a day or two of all-consuming pain before it starts going down again, and then we'll find out how much of that pain came from the sore or if part of my face

Well, bah humbug on your behalf for the soot on the white wool sleeve!
(I suppose you could try dry-brushing it for an age, and then gently handwashing it with some suitable wool-wash.)
