It's been way too long again since I posted, so here's some recent thoughts

Wait, like, an actual alligator??? *shakes head*

We inherited that metal horse. I loved the thing.

Yep, a about 10 inches long--a baby. I still regret not stopping her from torturing it.
The horse's name, I think, was Dobbin Gray from a nursery rhyme or children's poem. I used to get confused since our pediatrician was "Dobbie" Dr. Dobbins. (his office was downtown where there's now a bus stop, and a little park area.) I also used to get confused with "Hollywood" bread and Hollywood Florida. Was it called Hollywood bread because they made it in Hollywood? I was a little thick as a kid. I remember being astonished that the TV at the neighbors had the same shows we did... at the same time! Amazing!

I did not know the fate of yurtle. Rudy the Robot was MINE. Dobbin Gray ended up with John's kids eventually got so rusted that he wouldn't move. I remembered the caymen (bady alligators were really caymen's which is why we have caymen's and gators in the canals.) Luckily he didn't survive they get ever more impossible to handle as they grow

Dobin Gray won't work because the hard rubber wheels have bent. If I could get new wheels I would like to fix it. The dining room table was not stained. It was treated with linseed oil. First I took off the old finish and then treated it with several coats of linseed oil. Its supprising that mom would let me do it. I am glad that it is still remembered. I should check if hockey pucks are the right size for dobbin's wheels.

Maybe scooter wheels? Like for a Razor scooter? They come in a couple different sizes. Dobbin would probably be as big a hit with Melissa and Russell as it was with us. Some Krylon and some wheels and he's good to go.
