Heat has made me deathly ill. And on top of everything, I've gotten my first real hate mail. I should not be this profoundly shaken, but I suppose my ego is larger than I thought, for it to be so easily bruised and reduced to rubble. :(

I'm not one of those people who tends to think that haters are just jealous, but in this case? Yeah, they're probably just jealous. Your art is crazy good and you got popular really fast - that's bound to attract some green-eyed monsters. Feh on them. You just keep shining on, you crazy diamond.

Oh, so lovely and floaty! I love the way the tail end of the fabric drifts down, that's just really gorgeous for some reason.

And... yeah, I'm going to have to agree, even standing off from a completely unbiased perspective, that situation sounds entirely and indisputably like someone who can't get it out of their ass that you're popular. I give you full permission to think that, that's not just cheering yourself up, that is legitimately the most logical explanation. Because your art is really good, and anyway you're doing this for fun and practice presumably, so what in the god damn hell would be the point of someone going deliberately out of their way to take a swipe at you except being jealous and sour-grapesy? It's not like you're hurting them, it's the legit best explanation.

But also, I totally give you permission to also be upset by it! It's a shitty thing for people to do and it doesn't make you egotistical or a wimp to have your feelings hurt by it. I don't know who wouldn't(And of course I say "I give you permission" not

...WTF, who does that. Seriously. I mean, you kind of have to expect other people to snark about artists behind their backs because people are self-centered assholes who crave validation like that, but to actually go out of their way to send it to you directly? That's actually just confusing. I don't understand.
