I'm from Hutchinson, Kansas and I love your story. I've not been to the State Capital building for quite a few years, but I do remember the wonderful murals. I've never heard the story about the ghost, wish I had had Jeeves as the tour guide!! By the way, the dome got damaged by a tornado in 1965, but was repaired and now has an Native American statue on top. Love your story.

I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed it! You know, it's been nearly a decade since I was last in Kansas, so I can't really claim authenticity on this. I remember the murals, too, but pretty much everything else about the capitol was snagged from online.

Oh, I had heard that the statue was changed but didn't realize it was tornado-induced. Darned tornadoes. *sigh*

Interest in the history of Kansas would probably skyrocket if Jeeves ever did take up guiding the tours. I would want to go every day!
