IME, this time of year rocks for gleaning (when students are divesting their households of everything but the clothes on their backs). General good times are Saturday late afternoon/early evening (post garage sale), the end/beginning of any month, and garbage/recycling/large item pickup night (depending on the neighbourhood). I love love love gleaning. Got a lot of good stuff that way. :)
