Ack. Evol cliffhanger! That does not bode well for their slowly budding relationship at all. Not that I'm complaining, I'm loving the UST. ;)

Oh, you lull us into a false sense of security and then hit us between the eyes and leave us dangling over the cliff...

Another brilliant chapter. :) I'm sitting in a warm room and honestly, your writing's so evocative I wanted to shiver. :)

I felt bad for Esca that Burns Night brought back so many painful memories for him, and having to eat sub-par haggis - I'm not surprised he left it. Good for Marcus for giving it a go - he's a braver man than I am (well, I'm not a man, or brave...)

Esca's accident - I actually thought he was going to land in a heap on top of Marcus - poor thing banging his head so hard. It was so sweet that Marcus wanted to stay with him all night and insists on calling him Esca instead of Mac - I can see that despite being apparently easy-going, he can be quite a stubborn man. :) I love how Esca is totally drawn to him despite everything...well...right up until the last line...

FABVLOVS! ;)

Oh, if only.

Heh, too much I Clavdivs during my formative years. If there's any such thing as too much young John Hurt in a shortie toga...

Oh god, I *loved* I Claudius. Loved it. I only kept two sets of books from my formative years (the '70s), one being I Claudius/Claudius the God (the other is the Lord of the Rings trilogy). And yes, John Hurt as Caligula was brilliant and let's not forget Patrick Stewart as Sejanus! That series was chock-full of the best actors of that generation. :)
